90s Reloaded, Burns Night, Elvis's Birthday and Digi Con...
ARE JUST SOME OF THIS MONTH'S EVENTS

Just because the festive season is over, that doesn't mean the fun has to stop! This might traditionally be the month where we all hibernate and feel sorry for ourselves, but there is still loads of fun going on. There's the Sunninhill Wheelbarrow Race, the Heaven and Hell Ball, Burns Night, a Festival of the 60s and the Ultimate 80s HIt Factory Weekend. Those long dark days of January don't need to be filled with gloom and doom just because Santa has trundled off back to the North Pole for another year; there's plenty of fun to be had!

HEAVEN & HELL | 2nd JANUARY

Feeling angelic ... or perhaps a bit devilish?

We love any event whose website says "Dressing up is compulsory!" The Heaven and Hell Ball at Twickenham on Saturday 2nd January looks amazing, with the Utopia nightclub transformed into a divine split personality ballroom and outfits that are out of this world. We can't wait to go along in our best fancy dress outfit and dance the night away - kicking off 2016 in real style!

WHEELBARROW RACE | 1st JANUARY

Ignore that New Year's Day hangover; there's a wheelbarrow race to be won!

The twentieth annual Sunninghill Fancy Dress Wheelbarrow Race will be held on Friday, 1st January and 12 noon. The picturesque village of Sunninghill is taken over by the Rotary Club of Ascot for their annual fancy dress wheelbarrow race. We can't wait to see what wacky ideas the teams will come up with this year - and who will win!

DEERSTALKER DASH | 2nd JANUARY

New Year Fancy Dress Shenanigans for the whole family!

The Deerstalker Dash is a fantastic fancy dress fun run for the whole family, held on New Year's Day in Somerset. It's not a race; more of a feel-good, fancy dress jolly - which is why we love it so much! As the name suggests, there's a Sherlock Holmes theme, with runners encouraged to bring along their deerstalkers and magnifying glasses! Elementary...

ELVIS's BIRTHDAY | 8th JANUARY

All Hail the King!

Almost forty years after his death, Elvis Presley still has legions of fans; he is widely regarded as one of the most important cultural icons of the 20th century and we can see why! Who doesn't love Elvis, after all! This January 8th would have been his 81st birthday and we can't help but wonder if he would still be on the stage in Vegas in his 'Elvis Trademark Jumpsuit', gyrating his hips in that way that scandalised the world way back when he first began performing ...

ULTIMATE 80s - BUTLINS | 21st JANUARY

Never gonna give you up...

Ohhh, we do love the '80s! What a brilliant decade for fancy dress! And you can't celebrate the '80s without mentioning Pete Waterman's famous Hit Factory. The Factory brought us brilliant artists including Rick Astley, Sonia and Sinitta - and all of these are performing at Butlins Bognor Regis for their Ultimate '80s Weekend. We can't wait!

BURNS NIGHT | 25th JANUARY

The best laid schemes o' mice an' men gang aft agley

Burns Night is celebrated on the birthday of Scottish poet, Robert Burns - with haggis, bagpipes and all sorts of brilliant traditions. Burns Night Suppers are a big affair, not only in Scotland but also in Northern Ireland and more recently, all across the UK and the world. It's a time not only for those with Scottish heritage, but anyone with an appreciation for Burns' poetry and the traditions surrounding the night.

Groovy, maaan!

When you're thinking about brilliant decades that are super-fun as a fancy dress theme, you really can't go wrong with the 1960s. That's why we're so excited about the Festival of the 60s at Butlins in Minehead this month. Some of the best and biggest stars of the decade will be there to perform; a chance to see some fantastic performances, with plenty of other ways to relax and enjoy yourself over the course of the weekend.
