Throw Your Own Midsummer Night’s Dream Garden Party!

Posted on May 23, 2014 by Fancy Dress Ball

Spring has finally sprung! It took a bit of struggling, but fingers crossed we can put the bad weather and flooding behind us (for now) and with Summer on the way, celebrate in the most British way possible: with a garden party! People all over the country will be throwing garden parties over the next couple of months; why not make yours a little different, and transform your garden into a Midsummer Night’s Dream forest!

A Midsummer Night’s Dream is filled with fairies and nymphs, magic and wonder. We’ve got some great garden party ideas to make your party the talk of the town!

Here’s our guide to throwing the ultimate Midsummer Night’s Dream garden party:

Make Up

This is a fabulous tutorial for fabulous makeup inspired by Titania from a Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Here’s a great tutorial if you fancy dressing as a magical fairy; the more glitter, the better!

This one is a great idea for any men attending your party who want to join in the festivities!

Flower Headband

We love this simple tutorial for a flower garland hair band; the perfect addition to any outfit!

Decoration

Jam Jar Lanterns

These lights are a simple but effective way to light an evening garden party. Hang them from branches (or over a washing line!) or stand on tables and around the edge of the patio. Not in the grass though – we don’t want an impromptu bonfire!

Fairy Berries

This is a fantastically simple idea for an evening party: just paint pebbles with glow in the dark paint. A lovely way to highlight paths, or just to pile up as decorations. Once you’ve painted the pebbles, you could even put them into glass jars as table decorations.

Table Decoration

We love this simple table decoration; minimal work; maximum effect!

Food & Drink

Beer

Shakespeare’s characters didn’t drink a lot of beer, but that doesn’t mean your guests won’t want to! This is a great way to keep your drinks cool, and fits in wonderfully with the theme.

Cake Pops

Cake pops are all the rage at the moment! If you don’t fancy making pink ones, why not go for some lovely green and blue ones to fit in with the garden/forest theme?
