Last Minute Bank Holiday Activities

Posted on March 28, 2016 by Fancy Dress Ball

Did you have a fantastic Easter? Are you nursing a chocolate hangover right now? We might be… With a four-day weekend it can be easy to run out of ideas for activities. But tomorrow you probably have to go back to work, and that’s rubbish. You have one more day of freedom, so make the most of it!

If you’re stuck for ideas, fret not! We’ve come up with a great list of last minute bank holiday activities for you…

Build a Den Is it raining where you are? Well, it’s a British bank holiday so we’re ready to assume it’s raining in at least 99% of the UK. You don’t need to be outside to build a den though; grab a few sheets and blankets, and build it in your living room! Extra points if you take a quick trip to the supermarket to pick up some junk food and a dvd to watch from your den! Definitely better than just slouching on the sofa watching whatever’s on the TV!

Visit a National Trust Place The National Trust has houses, gardens and parks all over the UK. Take a look at their site to see where is closest to you, and enjoy a nice day out!

Go on an Easter Egg Hunt – what? Yes, we know Easter was yesterday but there is no such thing as too much chocolate, and lots of places have Easter egg hunts today. Have a Google about and see what you can find… mmmm, chocolate…

Go to the Coast¬†– yes, we’ve already discussed the Great British Bank Holiday weather. But sea air is sea air. Grab your waterproof jacket, and go for a nice bracing walk along the seafront! Perfect for blowing away the cobwebs after a long bank holiday weekend, ready for the start of spring and the clocks going forward (it happened on Sunday morning, in case you’ve missed it!)

Play a Board Game These days with iPads and laptops and computer games, apps, mobile phones and so on, the good old fashioned board game can be overlooked. But it’s a great activity for family and friends, and perfect for a bank holiday afternoon. Make it even better by making everyone put their electronic devices in a box in the cupboard before you begin!

Be a Tourist¬†How many of us live in a town or city that gets tons of tourists visiting every year, but we’ve never actually visited the tourist attractions? Get our your brightly coloured anorak and your camera; today you are becoming a tourist! Visit your local Tourist Information Centre if it’s open; pick up leaflets; visit stately homes, cathedrals, churches, whatever you can find. You can find some real gems that you’ve probably walked past on your way to work every morning for the past year but never stepped inside!

Whatever you’re up to this Easter Monday, make the most of it!
