Lara Croft created by artist Toby Gard during his time at Core Design is the female protagonist in the video game series Tomb Raider and subsequent movies in which Lara was played by Angelina Jolie and whom better to play the role of the virtual worlds sexiest character than one of the worlds sexiest leading ladies.

Lara Croft the female Indiana Jones though with a more kickass no messing attitude, first appeared in the 1996 video game Tomb Raider produced by Eidos Interactive. Toby gard was inspired by pop singer Neneh Cherry and the Jamie Hewlett Character Tank Girl...fed up of stereotypical characters he created Lara Croft, beautiful, athletic and above all...intelligent, an archaeologist and adventurer traveling the worlds ancient ruins and hazardous tombs for lost treasures and ancient artifacts.

Lara Croft, also considered a sex symbol is seen as a significant character in popular culture...even appearing in pixel form on front of mainstream magazines such as british magazine The Face which signalled a change in how video games were percieved, from geeky to cool, also holding two Guinness world records and has a huge fan following...and surprisingly not just from the boys but girls alike, seen as a positive role model and aspiration with her beauty and intelligence...often referred that she brought “girl power” to video games!

Lara Croft, is depicted as an adventurous, strong, cool and athletic woman not forgetting beautiful, with her sultry brown eyes and hair, frequently kept in a mohawk style plaited ponytail. Her classic Tomb Raider costume is a sleeveless tank top turquoise in colour, light brown shorts, calf-high boots with long white socks. Lara’s accessories include fingerless gloves, a backpack, a utility belt with holsters on either side strapped to each thigh holding two pistols. Sequels in the Tomb Raider series introduced new outfits designed for different environments and setting as she progressed, such as underwater levels and cold weather. In the later games, Croft wears a crop top camouflage pants and black or light brown shirts.

Lara Croft is also one of the first video game characters to successfully achieve a favourable conversion to film, played by Academy Award winning actress Angelina Jolie who trained hard for the roles intense action scenes, also performing her own stunts...impressing not only the audience but the stunt men on set too.
