Everyone had a favourite story when they were young. Which was yours? Tracy Beaker? Harry Potter? Where the Wild Things Are? The Tiger Who Came to Tea? The Snowman? The Gruffalo? The Famous Five? Paddington?
There are so many to choose from, aren't there! Children's Book Week celebrates everything to do with children's books, and seeks to encourage children to enjoy reading and books more. There are bound to be events at libraries, schools and nurseries across the country, and with any luck you'll have a fancy dress event near you! Dressing up as your favourite character from a book is a fantastic way to get children involved in books; seeing that their friend's favourite character is something they've never heard of encourages children to look at different books and characters.
All you need to do now is decide who to dress as! Will you choose a book from when you were very small and reading with your parents, perhaps something you read to your children? Or someone from a book you read when you were a little older? Harry Potter is always a favourite, but perhaps you want to choose something a little more off the wall?
