Halloween, Book Week, Comic Con London ...
ARE JUST SOME OF THIS MONTH'S EVENTS
The one thing everyone thinks of in October is Halloween - of course! It's one of our favourite days of the year! There's a Brick or Treat event at Legoland, Shoktoberfest, an Ultimate 80s Halloween ball as well as the day itself. But there are lots of other things happening this month including a 70s weekend, Comic Con and World Zombie Day! We're really excited...
Saturday October 10th is World Zombie Day, and we can't wait! World Zombie Day is an international event that grew from Pittsburgh's first Zombie Walk at Monroeville Mall in 2006 - the place where George Romero filmed the epic zombie film, Dawn of the Dead. The day is designed to help all fans of zombie culture to come together. These days over 50 cities worldwide participate, including Paris, Hong Kong, Los Angeles, Chicago, Tokyo and London. Zombies, zombies everywhere - and we can't wait.
Even if you weren't born until 1990, the 1970s is just one of those decades that makes you feel a great sense of nostalgia. Everyone loves 1970s fancy dress, even if they weren't even there the first time around! Butlins knows this, and they have a fantastic 1970s weekend lined up from 9th October. We can't wait to find some brilliant tie dyed shirts and bell bottom trousers...
Tulleys Shocktober Fest is a multi award winning, world famous scream park attraction in Crawley - and it sounds right up our street! This year there are four new attractions with a record total of eight this year. It's bound to be the biggest and best so far, and we literally cannot wait. What we especially like is the guidance on the website - it's a 12A rated attraction and children under 15 "MUST be accompanied by an adult at all times" - sounds like it's going to be super scary! Great!
Who doesn't love Lego? We've all grown up with it, we've all enjoyed building our own houses and space ships and castles. We've all played the Lego games, watched the Lego movie and bought one of those Lego head storage boxes (just us?). How exciting then, that this autumn half term, Legoland in Windsor is having Brick or Treat - two weeks of awesome Lego Halloween activities for children... and their parents, obviously!
If you asked us our top two favourite fancy dress themes, we would probably go with Halloween and the 80s. You can't even imagine how excited we are then, that Butlins are combining the two! Not only are they giving us the perfect excuse to drag out all our 80s neon and shoulder pads, they're actually encouraging us to cover it in fake blood and cobwebs!
There are Comic Conventions all over the country. But London is one of the biggest, and one of the best. Possibly even the best of them all! From October 23rd to the 25th Excel London at the Royal Victoria Dock is being transformed into a comic fan's wonderland. Comic fans everywhere have been looking forward to this event all Summer - and many of them have been working on their costumes for that long too!
Halloween is one of our favourite times of the year. We just love the excuse to spend time putting together the perfect costume, with face paint and accessories, perhaps a group theme, going all out with performance and voices and all sorts. For a fancy dress lover, Halloween is arguably the biggest night of the year and we can't wait to see what your costume will be this year!
