This year's Rewind North runs from August 7th to 9th, and the lineup includes Soul II Soul, the Boomtown Rats, The Human League, OMD, Kim Wilde, Bananarama, Belinda Carlisle, ABC, Howard Jones, The Selecter, Jimmy Somerville and more! The Rewind South runs from 21st to 23rd August and includes Billy Ocean, The Selecter, OMD, The Human League, Slim Jim Phantom from Stray Cats, Nik Kershaw, Midge Ure, Black Box, Hue and Cry, Go West and T'Pau. What a lineup! If you live mid-way between Cheshier and Henley-on-Thames, you've got a tough decision to make… or you could just go to both, and make it an 80s August!
The festival was first held in 2009 at joint venues Henley on Thames and Perth. It included a fun fair, street entertainers and comedians. Over the years the festival has grown, adding in a date in Cheshire as well as camping, firework displays, theme bars, silent disco and karaoke. The festival has become larger and is to all intents and purposes now three separate festivals, organised by the same people: Perth, Cheshire and Henley.
As well as camping, there is also glamping with Tangerine Fields (with hot showers, luxury toilets and a pamper parlour), Cloudhouses Home of Yurts and Squrts (with hot showers, electricity points and a beauty station), Eve's Tipis (flushing toilets, hairdressing and makeup area and free phone charging), Hotel Bell Tent (more like staying in a boutique hotel than a tent) and Podpads (pre-pitched pods with 24 hour security). This sounds like our sort of camping! There are also three theme bars: the arena bar - where you won't miss any action from the main stage, the Big Top Bar with live music and waitress service, or the Wind-it Inn and Beer Garden next to the Riverside stage.
This festival even has an option to arrive in a boat and moor up for the day/weekend! Who could ask for more? The best thing about the Rewind Festival is always the fancy dress. The 1980s might have produced the least stylish outfits, but the fashion is arguably the most fun for fancy dress! We can't wait to go through our dressing up box (don't pretend you don't have one too!) and find a mullet wig, some neon clothes, leg warmers, coloured fish nets, Frankie Say Relax t shirts, George Michael wigs, maybe an '80s wrestler costume ... what's not to love!
