Aloha! Let’s Have an Hawaiian Party! Comments Off

Posted on July 07, 2014 by Fancy Dress Ball

We’re not sure if you’ve noticed, but the weather has been distinctly summery lately!  And what better way to celebrate some wonderful weather, than with a wonderful party?

Dust off your grass skirt, buy a job lot of umbrellas for your drinks, and let’s get cracking!

Outfits

Your Hawaiian fancy dress outfit should include lots of brightly coloured flowers, including a Lei around the neck/head, a grass skirt, a bikini top (usually made from sea shells or coconuts), brightly coloured Hawaiian shirts for men, straw hats, and more flowers. There is no such thing as too many flowers when you’re going to an Hawaiian party!

This tutorial is fantastic for a classic Hawaiian look. If you’re feeling creative and fancy having Hawaiian nails too, try this one:

Decoration

As with the outfits, the theme here is flowers!

We love this idea for Hawaiian bunting

This is a great idea: hollow out a pineapple and use it as a vase for flowers! If you’re not sure how water tight the pineapple will be, you can always put a block of oasis inside and stick the flowers into it.

Other decorations for an Hawaiian party would include surf boards, flip flops, coconuts, beach balls, inflatables and hula hoops.

Refreshments

How cool is this idea! Wash out the kids’ buckets and spades, and use them to serve up party snacks!

And these biscuits are simple but effective

Fruit kebabs with flowers at the end. A simple way to make party food more festive!

For drinks, a large glass jug of lemonade (or fruit punch) with ice and lemon slices is a good idea.

A great idea is to soak the lemon slices in food colouring for a while beforehand, and then freeze them! Fantastic, brightly coloured drinks.

Entertainment

Aww, c’mon, this is a Luau! Do you really need us to tell you what should be your main choice of game?
