When you’re getting ready for a great night out, it’s always a problem knowing what to wear. How dressy will everyone else be? Will they all be wearing black?
With fancy dress parties, though, there’s no problem – you’ve probably already been given a theme, and you could be looking for fancy dress outfits to go along with that, or you might just have a free hand to be whoever you want to be for the evening.
We stock a wide range of adult fancy dress costumes and Halloween costumes, including 70s fancy dress and 80s costumes – and even sexy fancy dress costumes!

But we also have a wide range of fancy dress accessories, including masks of all kinds. These range from cartoon characters such as Disney’s seven dwarfs, to scary monster masks, pirate patches, Dr Who’s cyberman and gorillas. But we also have glamour models such as our baroque mask in blue and gold for those elegant masked balls where you can be very secretive and subtle!
We keep our range of fancy dress costumes well up to date – at the moment, we have a full range of Wallace and Gromit outfits, as well as South Park costumes and naughty fancy dress girl soldier outfits.
You’ll be impressed at our prices – far less than buying a normal outfit for a night out – and you can get ready for the ball knowing you’ll be completely in keeping with whatever the theme of the night is. Have a great time!

Halloween has become one of the biggest party nights of the year. Once just for kids, the adults now get to join in, dress up and have fun too.
That usually means fancy dress costumes are in high demand at this time of year, and we find our ladies’ Halloween costumes and mens fancy dress are extremely popular with customers.
Let’s take ladies’ Halloween costumes first. These range from sexy fancy dress such as witches and she-devils to zombie gals and dynamic vampires – fabulous!
The guys get to have fun with our Halloween outfits too. They can go for the gruesome with our Texas Chainsaw Massacre outfits, or the scary – Freddy Krueger and Jason from Friday 13th. Or you can just have some fun as Uncle Fester from the Addams family or the ghost with the most Beetlejuice.

Accessories can really finish off Halloween outfits, and we have a full range of props including cauldrons, broomsticks, spider web decorations, pumpkins and even Halloween designer handbags! We have all the makeup you need, too, to really get the right living dead look.
We also carry a full range of children’s Halloween costumes – we wouldn’t want to leave them out!
But we don’t just do adult fancy dress Halloween costumes. We also have an excellent range of Christmas fancy dress outfits and a huge selection of other costumes to keep you going through the whole year, no matter what kind of party you get invited to. So go on – who do you want to be today?

Halloween is great. Who doesn’t love eating sweets and dressing up in Halloween costumes? It’s fun for kids and fun for grown-ups, although adults have to look beyond trick or treating for their entertainment on the 31st of October. There are still plenty of ways to have a good time on Halloween.
Sweets always taste better if you earn them – trick or treating is much more exciting than buying a few pounds worth of sweeties from the local shop. At adult Halloween fancy dress parties you can make it all more interesting by making your guests work for their tasty treats by playing games that fit in with your overall theme.

One of the best Halloween party themes is the James Bond casino. This gives plenty of scope for evil super villains and naughty fancy dress, refined evening suits, martinis (shaken, not stirred), Sean Connery impressions, and other fun. Make up an appropriately suave playlist from the classics on your iPod or put on a chain of Bond movies in the background. A few jumbo sized bags of sweets will make the perfect chips for your Halloween casino. Then all you need to do is recruit a few of your closest friends to act as Halloween blackjack dealers and roulette spinners and away you go.
Everyone will have a great time ‘gambling’ and living the high life. The lucky guests will go home full of well-earned sugary goodness. The unlucky ones can earn their share by helping you with the washing up afterwards!

Halloween as we know it is a relatively recent festival, but, like most of our yearly celebrations, it has ancient roots. The word was first used in the 16th Century but most scholars agree that the origins lie with the much older Celtic feast of Samhain. This harvest festival marked the end of summer and the beginning of the descent into winter.
The carving of pumpkins wasn’t a part of Halloween til much later. That part of the tradition evolved from the practice of carving turnips into lanterns as a way of remembering the dead. Many people think that lantern carving was an American contribution to Halloween, but that is not strictly true – the Americans added the pumpkins, but not the idea of carving. That was already well-established.

Trick or treating is still practiced in an older form in some parts of Scotland. When ‘guising’, children go door to door and earn sweets, money, or fruit by singing or telling a story. Sometimes they wear Halloween costumes but the focus is less on what is worn and more on the act. Poorer adults also used to receive food and money from their neighbours at this time of year, not with elaborate Halloween outfits but with prayers for the souls of the dead.
Although it began as one of the most sombre festivals in the annual calendar and is now one of the most light-hearted (the idea of a 70s fancy dress party is hard to reconcile with a 10th Century Samhain celebration) it still retains many elements from history. It’s certainly much more than an American tradition imported to keep children amused- as some people maintain- so celebrate Halloween and be proud!

What better why to celebrate the scariest night of the year than with a movie marathon – you just have to choose the ghastliest, most ghoulish films you can find. Your local video rental place will be able to furnish you with a huge selection of zombie flicks, slasher films, schlock horror b-movies, classic thrillers and all that’s best in gory cinema, or these days you can shop (or hire) online and get exactly what you want delivered to your door. DVDs are cheap to hire so get plenty and let the guests decide which ones they want to watch first.
Buying online is by far the quickest and easiest way to find Halloween costumes for men, women, and kids too. There is a special section on our fancy dress website just to meet your scary and macabre Halloween needs because you simply can’t have a party or a social gathering on the 31st of October without the guests arriving in halloween outfits.
There are some that are ideally suited to scary movie nights – in fact, a number of our best Halloween costumes for men and women are based on classic movie characters – Freddy and Jason, for example.
If there will be kids or more sensitive adults at your movie night it’s best to keep it a bit lighter in tone. You want to be scary, but not too scary! Our Ghostbusters and Addams Family fancy dress costumes are ideal, but there is plenty more to choose from. Just make sure to hire the DVD that matches your costume!

You might be among those gearing up for the celebrations due to take place on and around October 31st this year in honour of Halloween.
Whether you have been invited to a party or are arranging a social gathering yourself, your choice of fancy dress for the occasion may be at the forefront of your mind.
Indeed, getting suitable Halloween outfits can be a source of stress if you are keen to impress your friends and have no clue what to don for the festivities.
One thing to bear in mind is that such get-up does not have to be scary in terms of its theme. While many of the garments available are based around the supernatural and are designed to shock fellow partygoers, not all are made with this aim in mind.

There are a plethora of male Halloween costumes, as well as those suitable for female consumers, to choose from and the internet can be an ideal place to look.
For those keen to strut their stuff on October 31st, there are options such as Pretty Kitty garments and Baroque ensembles, for example.
By choosing Halloween outfits such as this, you may well turn heads for a different reason than if you were dressed up as a devil, ghost, vampire or any of the other ghoulish creations that are often seen.
So, there is no need to restrict yourself to the fancy dress often associated with the occasion and, by looking for your outfit from an early stage, you will ensure you have the maximum choice of products on offer.

There is so much potential for Halloween fancy dress parties, that deciding on fancy dress costumes and party decor can be a bit of a challenge. However, Halloween needn’t mean a headache! By opting for a theme your fancy dress party should fall neatly into place.
But What Theme Should you Choose?
Well of course that’s up to you! But at Fancy Dress Ball we think that you wont do much better than an 80′s fancy dress theme, as quite frankly there was no era quite as scary as the 1980′s – and not just because of the fashions!

Due to the advent of videos and “video nasties” there is perhaps no better symbol of eighties horror than the zombie, and therefore if you opt for an 80s Halloween fancy dress theme, then you can’t go wrong by incorporating a few zombie elements. Of course this can mean zombie costumes, or it could mean scattering a few zombie parts around the place – at Fancy Dress Ball we even sell those (not real ones of course!)
The 1980s was also an age of horror idols! Most notably Michael Jacksons Thriller video – possibly the most famous video of all time – arrived on the scene to scare the pants off the nation! However, whilst scaring us, it also gives a great idea for a Halloween fancy dress party – not just for the costumes, but also for the horror soundtrack.
