Fancy Dress Can Add to Stag and Hen Nights 0

Posted on December 31, 2010 by admin

If you have been charged with organising a stag or hen party, you will no doubt feel under pressure to make it a good one.

Whether you are the best man at the upcoming wedding or the maid of honour, the fact you have been selected for this role means the groom or bride-to-be has faith in you.

And of course, you will determined not to let them down.

The most important thing is not panic. While coming up with an exciting theme that suits the tastes of as many people on the night out as possible may seem daunting, it will be fine as long as you take the process stage by stage.

Firstly, you need to decide on the location and date of the event. Making sure the maximum number of possible attendees can make it is vital.

If you are feeling extravagant, you may decide to base the event abroad.

Secondly, you need to decide what sort of activities are to be involved. So for example, will a meal be part of the celebrations and do you want to hit the clubs?

However, often it is details such as props and games that have the greatest impact on the event.

With this in mind, you might want to organise a fancy dress theme. Whether you opt for 70s fancy dress, 80s costumes or another theme, you are guaranteed to create a night to remember.

Such attire generally leads to people having more fun as they feel less inhibited.

Also, you are helping to ensure the bride or groom-to-be feels special.

Not many of us can remember the 70s – and that’s not just because of the great parties. However, this doesn’t mean that people don’t appreciate a great 70s fancy dress party, and in fact 70s fancy dress is still one of the most popular formats for a fancy dress party. But why is that, and how do you throw the perfect 70s fancy dress party?

Well just like the 1980s the 1970s was a decade that was renowned for its music, and therefore by opting for a 70s fancy dress theme then you’ll have the music sorted! Even better, you’ll get to pull out all of those old disco moves on the dancefloor!

70′s Fancy Dress Fever 0

70′s fancy dress is often inspired by the fashions of ‘Saturday Night Fever’, and you can make this sort of costume really stand out by purchasing fancy dress accessories. That’s where the best fancy dress suppliers may help. They exist purely to make sure your costume is as good as it can be by supplying all those little extras that will make it outstanding.

If you’re going for that rock star look, you might want to consider glasses with coloured lenses, or perhaps star shaped spectacles reminiscent of the type that Elton John used to wear to such great effect. Glasses shaped like hearts can be considered if you’re feeling really outrageous.

Someone once said that if you want to get ahead, get a hat, and a hat can certainly be the perfect complement to your 70′s fancy dress. How about a sequinned disco hat in gold or silver, or perhaps you’d like something more modest in pink?

If you are playing the rock star, you could opt for an inflatable guitar. To get into the right territory for a 70′s fancy dress party, you could wear a false moustache. If you want something extra in the hair department for your chest, you can achieve a luxuriant hirsute look by underhand methods. A medallion may be considered today to be of dubious taste, but it wasn’t always as frowned upon.

At Fancy Dress Ball, we aim to make everything as simple as possible for you when getting your fancy dress costumes. We think the only problem you’ll have is the incredible choice, but you can take your time as we’re here twenty four hours a day.

Themed fancy dress is becoming increasingly popular. People often prefer the theme not to be specific as they are then able to be more creative in what they choose to wear. There are some themes which can sound very specific, such as cowboys or pirates, but a look at our website here at Fancy Dress Ball will show that there can be infinite variety. Take a look through our huge selection of costumes and you will be amazed at how many choices you have. When you take into account the fact that the costumes are fully customisable with our range of accessories, hats, wigs, make-up and even beards, you will be inspired. In fact you might want to take a look through our costumes before deciding on your theme.

One of the advantages of having a theme is that it enables you to choose your decorations, setting, music and maybe even party games to tie in with the fancy dress and make it into a really memorable event. Choosing a particular decade is very popular. 70′s fancy dress is great as there were some great films to base your characters on. It was also the decade that bought us glam rock, which provides plenty of inspiration. Even the everyday fashions were loud and colourful. The 70′s also saw the birth of disco, and there are plenty of great cheesy tunes which still guarantee a packed dance floor.

Other fun themes include superheroes, children’s television characters and animals. Whatever you decide, we’re bound to have the perfect fancy dress costume.

70′s Fancy Dress and 80′s Fancy Dress 0

Decades seem to go in and out of fashion. For example, the nineties is not currently considered very trendy, but its time will come again. Currently, the hottest decade is probably the eighties or the seventies, so it’s no wonder that so many people are having 80′s themed fancy dress parties or wearing 70′s fancy dress.

Apart from anything else, there is some great cheesy music from those decades that is more than ideal for a really lively party.

At Fancy Dress Ball we are constantly adding to the range of 80′s fancy dress costumes that we have. You can go to a party dressed up as Prince or Madonna – or even pay tribute to Michael Jackson.

The eighties seems, to some, as the last time when pop stars were really pop stars, simply due to the lack of innovative, iconic fashion and mannerisms displayed by pop’s current high-fliers. For example, many compare Lady Gaga to a pale imitation of early Madonna. Whilst many of the currrent boy bands might be very popular, they are not instantly recognisable. You’d have to be a real Take That fanatic to recognise someone dressed as Jason Orange, which is why so many people prefer fancy dress costumes from decades passed.

There were also a lot of iconic movies in the eighties, including Ghostbusters, Robocop and Beetlejuice – and who can forget the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles?  If you want something a little unusual, how about dressing as Dangermouse? This heroic rodent, voiced by David Jason, is as popular as ever amongst those of a certain vintage. However, if Dangermouse never tickled your fancy, you can always go for that other classic superhero from children’s television, Bananaman.

Fancy dress has to be one of the best ways to break the ice in a social situation. If you’re the type of person who finds parties something of an ordeal, do what you can to persuade the person holding the party to make it fancy dress. , or possible even themed, such as 70s costumes. This might seem counterintuitive. After all, if you’re actually quite shy and find making small talk difficult, you might think that donning a fancy dress costume will make things much worse.

In actual fact fancy dress puts everybody on an equal footing. No worries about turning up to the party in that striped dress that everybody seems to have bought.

If you do have the same costume as someone else, it becomes a talking point rather than an embarrassment. In actual fact, we at Fancy Dress Ball have so many different costumes that even if everybody at the party knows about us, you’re unlikely to find a costume twin. When you add to that the fact that our costumes are all customisable with whatever wigs, hats, shoes, make-up and accessories you want, you’re more likely to complement others than clash.

Just as turning up to a party in fancy dress automatically gives you some small talk to start you off when meeting new people, dressing up for a night out can have the same benefits. Walk up to the bar as someone else whether it’s a cowboy, pirate or film star and you will find yourself chatting to the person next to you before you’ve even thought about it.

Shoes For Fancy Dress 0

Whilst one has to be careful, in these days of political correctness, not to be sexist, there are arguably some definite differences between men and women beyond the obvious physical ones. For example, some women like cushions and shopping and are obsessed by handbags and shoes!

Apparently it is impossible for a woman to have too many shoes and we can understand that when we look at the range of wonderful footwear that we are able to supply to complete our fancy dress costumes.

Many of our ladies fancy dress outfits and shoes are specific to costumes and really set them off. For example, when dressing as a sexy nurse, you really need a pair of white, high heeled shoes with a nice little red and white cross. Equally, the lady gangster needs a pair of black and white brogues complete with stiletto heels.

Some people really appreciate a pair of kinky boots. Our stock includes red boots for a lady elf, complete with curly toes. We also have stretch patent boots in a choice of colours including black, white, red and silver.

We’re particularly proud of some of the fancy dress items we sell. For example, camouflage sandals look so much better (and sexier) than combat boots although if you want to be a bit more military looking we have camouflage boots as well.

Here at Fancy Dress Ball, we think it is far better to buy your ladies fancy dress costumes than rent them. There often isn’t much difference in terms of price and you can make sure the fancy dress costume fits you. Our fancy dress costumes never smell of mothballs either.

Inspiration For Fancy Dress 0

Inspiration for fancy dress costumes can come from many sources. One suggestion is to look through the best-selling DVDs.

Star Trek seems to have been around forever. Gene Roddenberry’s creation started off as a television series. It eventually spawned many other series such as ‘Voyager’ and ‘Deep Space Nine’. It also launched a whole series of films. The latest instalment went back to when Captain Kirk, Spock, Mccoy, Chekov, Scott, Sulu and Uhuru first took control of the Enterprise. The film has been a huge success and the DVD is selling extremely well. It’s no wonder our Star Trek adult fancy dress costumes are still so popular.

With the advent of the new blu-ray technology many favourites will be getting a new lease of life. Certainly ‘Lord of the Rings’ is already promising to be one of the best sellers of 2010 when a boxed set of the whole trilogy is released. Naturally, we have many costumes from Middle Earth.

We have two different adult fancy costumes for Gandalf. If you’d rather be a baddie, we can have you looking like a Nazgul in no time. If you want to wield an axe then we can have you dressed as Gimli, whatever your height. You might prefer to be handsome Legolas complete with bow and arrow or, if you’re a beautiful woman, we have two different Arwen costumes.

We at Fancy Dress Ball make owning your own fancy dress costumes simple and inexpensive. You will never again have to wear a fancy dress costume that has been worn by a hundred people before you.

Perhaps you’re looking for inspiration as to what you’d like to dress as at your next fancy dress party. Actually it may be that you don’t even know when that’s going to be yet. However, it’s always good to be prepared. In fact, why wait for an invite? Just organise a party yourself. If you’re worried that your home isn’t big enough, persuade your local club to hold a fancy dress themed night. It’ll boost their takings, and you could even raise some money for a worthy cause.

For the ladies, dressing as a bunny girl or Little Bo Peep are obvious, but great choices. We also have less obvious choices such as a buccaneer or pirate or a soldier. It has to be said these costumes do have an added dash of glamour. If you do go as a soldier, you will not look like the average squaddie that you’ve seen on a parade ground.

If talk of scanty adult fancy dress costumes is making you feel fruity, you could take it to a logical conclusion and dress as a banana. Alternatively if fancy dress parties bring out the devil in you, you could dress as the prince of the underworld, Beelzebub.

Other adult fancy dress costumes that include a sexy twist are a boxer – that is a pugilist not a pedigree dog – or a bumble bee. If you really want to make the most of your assets take a look at our bad kitty costume.

We at Fancy Dress Ball, have the best selection of fancy dress costumes anywhere.
